We’re incredibly proud to share that our Sales Advisor Jess has successfully completed the Bath 50 Ultra Challenge, raising an amazing £470 for Cancer Research UK — exceeding her original £300 target.
Heading into the challenge, Jess felt excited and ready to take it on. Her preparation included long dog walks and time spent walking the White Cliffs of Dover — building up both stamina and confidence ahead of the big day.
At the start line, the energy was high. With music, group warm-ups, and plenty of encouragement from fellow participants, the atmosphere set the tone for what would be a memorable experience.
The first part of the route felt manageable, with downhill stretches making for a steady start. However, as the challenge progressed, the hills towards the end proved to be the toughest part of the day.
Jess pushed through by keeping a steady pace and, importantly, staying focused. Walking alongside her friend Clare made a huge difference — the two kept each other going with constant conversation, even surprising themselves by talking the entire way without losing their voices.
One of the standout moments for Jess was simply completing the challenge alongside her friend, taking in the views along the route and enjoying everything Bath has to offer. The scenery and shared experience made the day even more rewarding.
This challenge was particularly important to Jess, as she took part in memory of her Grandad Po. Having now completed her second ultra challenge, she’s already looking ahead to taking on more in the future.
After 50km, crossing the finish line was a huge achievement. Participants were rewarded not only with a strong sense of accomplishment, but also a well-earned meal — with Jess enjoying a classic toad in the hole to refuel.
Like any endurance challenge, there were a few aches and pains the next day — particularly in the glutes and shins — but thankfully Jess’s feet held up well, thanks to a good pair of running shoes.
Jess shared this advice for anyone considering a similar challenge:
“Do it — it’s really rewarding mentally and pushes you out of your comfort zone. The events are so well organised, there’s a great community feel, and different locations across the UK so anyone can get involved.”
She also wanted to say a final thank you:
“Thank you so much for all the support — it really means a lot. Although my fundraising page is now closed, you can still donate directly to the charity if you wish. See you on the next one!”
Once again, a huge congratulations to Jess from everyone at Omega Home — a fantastic achievement for a brilliant cause 👏
